USA defeated Bermuda by just one run in a thrilling opening day match of the ICC Americas U-15 Championships (Northern Division) at Erskine Cricket Ground in Brooklyn, New York.
USA captain Steven Taylor was named Man of the Match for his scorching first innings knock of 86 from only 49 balls but it was Trevis Ross who bowled USA to victory with a remarkable 4-18 in 3.3 overs, taking the final four wickets to end the match.
Bermuda was set 201 to win and seemed to be cruising along with Jonte Smith (70) and Shaquille Jones (31) at the wicket putting on a 98-run partnership. After Jones was dismissed by leg spinner Rishi Patel, Kamau Leverock took the crease and clobbered three monstrous sixes to reach 25 in 13 balls.
At 143-3, Bermuda looked set for victory but began losing quick wickets at regular intervals, losing its last nine wickets for just 63 runs. Trevis Ross (4-18) produced a remarkable off-spin bowling performance to wrap up the Bermuda innings at 199 to help the home side win by one run.
