Argentina clinch ICC Americas Region U19 Division 2
Argentina clinched promotion from ICC Americas U19 Division 2 on an exciting day in Buenos Aires.

In a top of the table clash at the Belgrano ground, the home team won the toss and elected to bat first in glorious conditions. The openers Gabriel Gonzalez Suti and Augustin Hussain got the host off to an excellent start in a partnership of 54 runs from 13 overs.

Suti, who made 24 from 54 balls, played the anchor role, while Hussain made 22 from 37 balls with some exquisite back foot drives through the covers. Hussain was the first to go with the score on 54 caught and bowled by Kenroy Reynolds to a ball that held out on the pitch.

The home team lost ground as wickets fell steadily in the face of some good bowling from the Belizean bowlers. Herbert Banner with figure of 10-1-21-2 and Emmanuel Mc Fadzean 10-2-19-1, kept the pressure firmly on the home team middle order batsmen.

But the Arrighi brothers Pedro and Mateo brought respectability to the home team’s total. Pedro who earlier stemmed the flow of wickets, became more adventurous and played some delightful strokes in scoring 34 not out from 54 balls. At the other end, younger brother Mateo played assuredly for his 27 from 26 balls to post a challenging 189 runs.

In reply Belize started belligerently, and rushed to 18 from the first 3 overs, however, some fine new ball bowling by the Argentine pair of Santiagi Ingoyen, two wickets, and Alejo Tissera one wicket, soon turned the momentum of the game.

The tournament leading bowler took over proceeding from the southern end and immediately confirmed why he has taken more wickets than any other bowler in the tournament. In his second over he had the circumspect Jaman Flowers lbw for 11. This opened the flood gates and Belize appeared down for the count.

And when to home team thought the championship was theirs, entered the burly Steve Moody, who clobbered his first ball to the midwicket boundary for 6. Moody took the battle to leg-spinner Lautoro Musiani as the two exchanged words of motivation as he belted two more sixes out of the ground before he was smartly run out 21.

Net run rates were going to decide the winners of the tournament and Belize needed a healthy total to stay in the top two of this competition. Young Lautoro Musaini took the last wicket to seal a well deserved victory for the home team
