Rain hits ICC Americas U19 event
The two games on the opening day of the ICC Americas Division 2 championships were abandoned due to rain.

Host Argentina got off to a sensational start and reached 82/0 in 15 overs in the opening game against Chile played at the Hurlingham ground, when rain stopped play.

Chile won the toss and decided to field, a decision captain Hector Fuenzalida Pavez would soon regret. In the first over, his new ball bowler was removed from the bowling after delivering his second high full pitch delivery in the five legitimate balls he sent down.

The Argentine openers ran well between the wickets and they were ably assisted by some wayward bowling from the opponents. No fewer than 16 wides, six no balls and one leg bye helped to push the score rate up.

When the rain came Agustin Husain was not out on 22 and the more aggressive Mateo Arrighi with three fours was not out on 38 from 41 balls.

The heavy showers that flooded the city over the weekend returned in full force, and play was officially abandoned at 12: 05

In the day's other game between Belize and Suriname at Belgrano, the morning session was delayed 2 hours 15 minutes. The calculators came out and the luncheon internal was cut short to maximize the days play and the game was due to start at 12:45 in a match 40 overs per side.

Belize won the toss and decided to bat first. And moments away from the rescheduled start, the covers came out again and that was it for the day, play was officially called off at 2pm with rain still falling.
