In the first of a three-match series between Argentina U15 and Chile U15 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the hosts completed a comfortable 10-wicket victory.
Argentina U15 showed clear signs of the benefits of its recent tour to South Africa as it stormed to an easy win over their Chilean counterparts at the Belgrano Athletic Club in Buenos Aires.
After winner the toss and asking Chile U15 to bat, this decision was soon vindicated as the Argentina U15 attack proved too strong and Chile U15 were bowled out for a mere 45 runs in 16,4 overs.
Opening bowler Martin Peralta was rampant as he claimed 4 for 12 in 4 overs to remove the Chilean top-order, including the prize wicket of Australian-born Tim Gayfer. No Chilean batter was able to reach double figures, and it was largely due to some wayward Argentine bowling, including 28 wides. Captain Lautaro Musiani weighed in with 3 for 7 in 3 overs with his leg-spin.
In reply, Argentina U15 made short work of the target, with Mateo Arrighi being particularly impressive in scoring 32 not out off only 23 balls, including 7 fours, and the win was achieved in the 8th without the loss of a wicket.
The second game of the series takes place at the Hurlingham Club tomorrow, when the Chile U15 combination will be looking for improvement in their batting, while Argentina U15 will no doubt be keen to clinch the series with a second victory.
