USA Cricket Combine wrap and upcoming USA Cricket activities
Wed, Jun 22, 2016 5:12 PM
We would like to sincerely thank the many players, parents, coaches, umpires, scorers and volunteers who helped to deliver eight successful USA Cricket Combines across the country over the past 3 months.
Over 700 people participated in or contributed to this important initiative which is a great response.
Through this process we have gathered a great deal of information about the talent that exists within the US, and are excited about what can be achieved with continued hard work and further development.
In the short term, I'm pleased to announce that there will be two upcoming opportunities for USA representation at both men's senior and U17 levels. Further information about the next steps for the Women's program will be provided next month.
U17 Match Play
As part of preparations for the 2017 U19 CWC Qualifier, a squad of approximately 30 U-17 players will soon be announced. This group is not exclusive and players may be added or left out at any time. From this group, a reduced 14 man squad will also be announced for an initial match-play event featuring the USA, Canada and Bermuda. Details of this event are provided below:
Dates: Arrive July 13, depart July 20 Venue: Moosa Stadium, Houston, Texas
In preparation for the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 event to be played in Los Angeles later this year, a squad of approximately 30 players will soon be announced to attend a camp and trial matches in Florida. The camp will coincide with a number of activities taking place around the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) matches. Details are provided below:
Dates: Arrive evening July 27, depart evening August 3 Venue: Central Broward Regional Park
Whilst only a small number of players will be selected to these initial squads, we hope all players involved in the USA Cricket Combines benefited from the experience and will continue to improve their game and strive for further honours in the future.
The selection panel to select both squads will be announced shortly. A public application process to appoint selectors was announced on May 28 and closed on June 11.
