Suriname triumph in Pepsi ICC Americas Division 2 Championships
Despite early hiccup Suriname wins promotion

Suriname started Day 3 full of confidence and looking to quickly dispose of the winless Argentina and retain their unblemished record. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Suriname struggled early, losing two quick wickets before skipper Boodram steadied the innings and registered the first half century of the tournament. When Boodram was dismissed for 55, Argentina bowlers regained the ascendency and restricted Suriname to 8-115. Fennell stared with the ball, claiming 5-15.

Argentina's openers came out with only one thing on their mind, scoring runs and scoring them quickly. Argentina cruised to 50 without loss, before losing Irygoyen for 32. Youngster Marinozzi came in and compiled a classy 22, before losing partner Rogers for 30. Skipper Ferguson joined Marinozzi and blasted 30 from 20 deliveries, sending 3 over the fence in the process. Argentina cruised past the total in 19 overs, finishing 2-116.

On the other side of town, Cayman Islands took on Bahamas in a must win match. After winning the toss, Cayman started strongly, with the top order contributing heavily as they reached 7-117 off their allotted overs. Bahamas also started strongly, before Cayman Islands introduced Bovell into the attack. Bovell's 5-12 changed the course of the match, allowing Cayman Islands to dismiss Bahamas for 91

In the afternoon matches, Cayman Islands took on Argentina at CBRP Stadium, requiring a convincing win to remain in the hunt. Argentina won the toss, and, confident after their efforts earlier in the day, elected to bat. The pace and bounce of Cayman's openers proved too much to handle for the Argentinians as they crumbled to 7-28. Some lower order hitting moved the total to 70 before they were bowled out in the 17th over. In reply, Cayman Islands passed the total convincingly in the 17th over for the loss of 4 wickets.

At Brian Piccolo, Suriname needed to win to secure their promotion to ICC Americas Division 1 Championships and World Cricket League Division 6. Bahamas won the toss and batted on a dead wicket, and could never really generate momentum, eventually being dismissed for 83 in the 19th over. Suriname made light work of the run chase, passing the total 4 wickets down in the 13th over.

The win secured Suriname's promotion to ICC Americas Division 1 Championships and World Cricket League Division 6.
