Squad to play in the WICB U19 Tournament next month
ICC Americas is pleased to announce their squad to play in the WICB U19 Tournament from the 10th to the 21st of August in St Kitts, West Indies. The team comprises of 8 Canadians, 4 Bermudans and 2 players from the USA.
The squad was selected following the ICC Americas U19 Tournament scheduled from July 8 to July 14 in Toronto. Canada took out the title and will now go on and represent the region in the ICC U19 CWC in 2014.
Weather drastically reduced the amount of cricket that was played, which made selection based solely on performance at the tournament difficult and it was decided to take into account players who had further international cricket on the horizon. As such the Canadians have the U19 CWC next year, while the 4 Bermudans and 2 Americans are likely to be in contention for a place in the T20 teams that play in the T20 WCQ in Dubai this November.
The team will travel to St Kitts on the 8th August to prepare for their first game against Guyana on the 10th. They will play six games in total and depart for home on the 21st of August.
The squad is:
Muhammad Abrash Khan
Muhammad Farhan Mailk
The squad will be coached by ICC Americas Performance Officer Andy Pick and the player’s fitness will be taken care of by Physio Alicia Brewster.
The fixtures (provisional):
10th Aug v Guyana
11th Aug v Leewards
14th Aug v Windwards
16th Aug v Trinidad and Tobago
18th Aug v Barbados
20th Aug v Jamaica
