Costa Rica won both games of the Volcano Cup tournament against El Salvador comfortably to clinch the title at Santa Tecla from 19-20 December 2009.
In the first game, El Salvador was dismissed for 130 all out in the 30th over with P. Pradeep being the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 4-23. In response, Costa Rica achieved its target in the 29th over for the loss of only five wickets. Man of the Match T. Baker (40) and C. Prasad (31) starred in their side’s five-wicket victory.
In the second game, El Salvador bowlers applied pressure on the batsmen as Costa Rica was dismissed for 128-8 with a top score from M. Peart (51). However, El Salvador, with five debutants in its batting line up, crumbled under the experienced Costa Rican attack and was restricted to 113 all out in just 18 overs to hand Costa Rica victory by 15 runs.
