USA announces squad for U19 World Cup
The United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) announced its squad for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2010 next month in New Zealand.

The announcement was made following an intensive four-day weekend training camp at the ICC-approved Central Broward Regional Park, in Florida, and under the watchful eyes of USA coaches and trainers and New Zealand Cricket coaches, Dipak Patel and Hamish Barton.

The squad was very focused during the camp and all of the players are eager to don the red, white and blue of the USA. According to assistant coach Reginald Benjamin: "For the many years that I have been involved in cricket in America both as a player and a coach, this weekend has been the most productive and successful ever."

The USA U19 squad is the same group of players who participated in the ICC U19 CWC Qualifier in Toronto, earlier in September this year. However, Steven Taylor has been added as wicketkeeper/batsman. The team will assemble in San Francisco on 1 January, 2010 to depart to New Zealand.

On arrival in New Zealand, the squad will train from 9-13 January at the New Zealand Cricket High Performance Centre, located at Lincoln University in Christchurch. The centre will offer the squad the chance to utilise facilities that are virtually unavailable in the USA. The team will then engage in two warm-up matches against India on 11 January and Papua New Guinea on 12 January.

The full squad is: Shiva Vashishat (captain), Salman Ahmad, Regis Burton, Ryan Corns, Muhammad Ghous, Naseer Jamali, Abhijit Joshi, Azurdeen Mohammed, Saqib Saleem, Gregory Sewdial, Yash Shah, Hammad Shahid, Sammi Siddiqui, Steven Taylor and Henry Wardley.
