Cricket Canada announced the resignation of Michael Dighton, National Senior Men's Coach, as of 20 April 2012.

During his 8 months in the position, Dighton coached the Senior Men's team on a training tour of Barbados, the Caribbean T20, WT20Q preparation camp in Sri Lanka, World T20 Qualifier in UAE, and Canada's tour of Namibia.

Cricket Canada Vice-President Vimal Hardat commented on Dighton's resignation,

"We were obviously disappointed to lose someone of Michael's caliber but understand his reasons and thank him for his contribution to Cricket Canada. We wish him all the best in the future."

Cricket Canada's CEO Doug Hannum indicated that the organization will begin looking for Dighton's replacement immediately with an eye on qualification for the ICC World T20 2014 and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

"The search for Michael's replacement will soon be underway, well in time for the national team's trip to Scotland in July. We are certainly focused on putting our best foot forward to get ourselves into the next World Cup cycle and a new coach will be an integral part of that."
