World #1 Stefanie Taylor makes a century while in the Cayman Islands
It was a display of awesome power and grace as the current World number 1 Batter and All Rounder Stefanie Taylor honored the Cayman Islands Women with a majestic display. Captaining the WI Stars and Cayman Rest versus a Cayman Select team, Ms. Taylor showed glimpses of her proven ability scoring a boundary studded century which contain 6 sixes and 7 fours. Smith Road Oval was buzzing with excitement. It was a fitting tribute to this auspicious occasion as the Cayman Islands celebrated Honoring Women?s Month.
Joining Ms. Taylor at the event was another upcoming West Indies star Shanel Daley, World number 8 All Rounder! It was pleasing to see them together batting which was a learning experience for our local spectators and players.
Both players held clinics with the Cayman Islands National players who are preparing for the upcoming Pepsi ICC Americas Women?s T20 Championships to be held in the Cayman Islands from April 22nd to 29th. The teams involved in this tournament are the USA, Canada, Bermuda, Argentina, Brazil and the Cayman Islands.
Speaking of the match Ms. Taylor said ?I thoroughly enjoyed the six days in the Cayman Islands. Interacting with administrators and players was a moving experience. I wish to thank Mrs. Merta Day who was the coordinator for this event and all others who made our stay extremely enjoyable. I wish the Cayman Islands the best for the upcoming tournament and look forward to coming again.?
