Belize skipper Dirk Sutherland is hopeful that his side's experience of playing in a Twenty20 competition already will boost his side's chances of doing well at the ICC Americas Division 2 event.
He believes the fact the team has already played a T20 event this year, winning the ICC Americas Division 3, gives his side a major advantage going into April's Division 2 tournament.
"Certainly there were several lessons learnt by the Belize national cricket team from that T20 event in Costa Rica. We learnt that adaptation is a must when leaving one's country and especially on the field of play," said Sutherland.
"We also learnt patience is the key when playing the game. We know that T20 games are fast, but we need to be more patient and play better shots."
He also believes that Twenty20 cricket can help boost the profile of the sport in the Americas region.
"I definitely think T20 cricket can help build the profile of the sport in the region. I believe people of the Americas forsee cricket as a sport that is too long to watch - three hours is lovely."
