Pre tournament favourites all prevail - JUST!
USA's Mirza captures 118 not out on day one.
In the David and Goliath clash between USA and Argentina, the USA won the toss and elected to bat. Steven Taylor scored a quick fire 83 before Mirza compiled a measured unbeaten century, finishing 118 not out. A flurry of boundaries from Ahmad at the end saw the hosts finish on 319-5. In reply the young Argentines succumbed to 34 all out from 17.4 overs with Ahmad capping a good all-round performance with 4-10.

On the main ground at the stadium Bermuda were asked to bat first after the start was delayed due to a damp pitch and the game was reduced to 41 overs per side. After a 59 run opening stand between White and Burgess, the innings lost its way and wickets fell at regular intervals until Bermuda were bowled out for 181 with over 10 overs left. Burgess was top scoring with 41 and Davis was the leading wicket taker with 3-37 as four bowlers shared the spoils. Cayman Islands chase was dominated by a superb knock of 93 by DeAlwis-Seneveratne and helped by a patient Davis; they added 107 for the 4th wicket. With 17 required from 3 overs captain Gilbert took the ball and with the first ball of the over he bowled DeAlwis-Seneveratne out and from then on Bermuda increased the pressure with two wickets for Fubler and they came out winners by 4 runs. DeAlwis-Seneveratne was deservedly named the man of the match.

Bahamas met Canada at the Brian Piccolo Park where Bahamas won the toss and electing to bat. After a steady start which saw them progress to 61-3, they quickly collapsed to 66 all out. Shah was the main destroyer; he ripped through the middle and lower order to finish with the excellent figures of 6-3. He continued his man of the match performance at bat with 31 not out as Canada cruised home to win by 9 wickets with more than 30 overs to spare.
