Dassanayake worried about Canada's batting

Canadian coach Pubudu Dassanayake has plenty to think about
Canada's national coach Pubudu Dassanayake was satisfied with the performance of the representative side in the recently concluded Cricket Canada Summer Festival.

Although it experienced mixed fortunes during the event, the coach was positive about the tournament.

This was the last warm-up for the Canadian representative team before they head to the subcontinent for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

"We performed well. It was a very good test for us and I was happy with the way things turned out," assessed Dassanayake.

The coach was concerned about the standard of the team's fielding, but sounded even more worried about the batting. "We lagged behind in our fielding, but the batting was our biggest problem, it's been that way all year.

Players are talented and capable but they don't play against quality bowling all the time," opined Dassanayake.

Meanwhile, Cricket Canada president Ranjit Saini was satisfied with the success of the Summer Festival. "The tournament was received very well. The turnout was very good, I've never seen so many people at a match in Canada," said Saini.
