Cricket Canada Summer Festival got off to a damp start at the Malton Cricket Club in Ontario on Wednesday.
The opening game of the series played between a Bermuda XI and West Indies High Performance Centre XI was played over a reduced 30-overs a side thanks to the rains.
West Indies opting to bat first started off well, but went from being 88-2 to 171 losing the last seven wickets for 71 runs. In reply Bermuda XI captain David Hemp starred with a brisk 78 off 62 balls with seven sixes. Despite these heroics Bermuda XI fell short by 19 runs.
Hosts Canada's representative side begin their campaign on Thursday against the West Indies High Performance Centre XI.
