Mexico and Costa Rica Both Win their Matches on Day 1 of the Americas Division 4 T20 Championship
The Falkland Islands completed their tour with two T20 matches against Mexico, in the morning game, and Costa Rica, in the second game of the day. This was due to the flight connections with only one weekly flight via Chile back to the Falkland Islands.Although they ended the day winless, they didn't go down without a fight.

In the day's first game Mexico won the toss and elected to bat in very overcast conditions, and if the 50 over game against the same opponents was a runaway victory for the host, it was not the case in this the first T20 between the two teams.

The host team was restricted to 130 for 8 from their 20 overs thanks mainly to an innings of 57 not out from Mexico's Captain Tushar Gupta batting at number 7 in the order. At 75 for 5 with five overs remaining, the Falkland's bowlers lost all control and returned the grip they had on the game to the batting team.

In reply only three batsmen got into double figures for the Falklands; Martin Collins, with 22runs from 29 balls, Richard Marlor, who was 20 not out from 24 balls, and David Hewitt, 11 runs from 27 balls, as the tourist finished 101 for 9 in the allocated 20 overs.

Costa Rica dominated the second game of the day and dispersed any thoughts the Falkland Islands had of a repeat here earlier this week. A century second wicket partnership between David Crisp, 56 runs from 38 balls, and Ben Smith, 52 runs from 37 balls, laid the foundation. Chris Prasad chipped in at the end of the innings with 19 runs from 9 balls, and the Costa Rican's finished on 165 for 5 from its 20 overs.

The target was never in reach for the Falklands and they eventually folded for 100 runs with 4.1 overs remaining. David Crisp returned to capture 2 wickets for 6 runs to go with his 56 runs which gained him the man of the match award.

This sets up a series decider with Costa Rica facing host Mexico in the only game of the day and the end to the ICC Americas Division 4 tournament.
